I am sorry for the late review, but i needed some time to get familiar with the chassis and do some long term tests properly. (I got the Chassis back in march 2019) 5/5 Stars ;) Works great, used it with a Areca 1883ix-24 (8GB+BBU) Raid Controller. 16x6tb SATA Drives Raid6, 2x18TB (Passthrough, JBOD) and 6x1tb SAS Drives (Raid6). SGPIO works perfectly (All the LEDs are working perfectly over 1 year later) Airflow in chassis is good. (Stock Fans, High speed Relatively easy to maintain. Generally very good quality of the components of the backplane, i think its a LSI backplane. Hotswap works like a charm. The HDD bay mapping sticker on the chassis is a great bonus too. Only drawback is my fault, I did not get a Redundant PSU, but the ATX (650W) one I use works fine.
Dans review said it all. This is a very nice chassis. One of the things that first impressed me was the attention to detail, in the small things. The easy use case cover removal button, the 4 pin fans with noise reducing securements, the polished metal finish with no sharp edges, the side airflow slots which dont extend too far, in fact the attention to airflow throughout the case, theres very few excess holes i need to cover up (because i'm initially using an atx psu(until i buy a 1u/2u psu),electrical tape to cover the 1U/2U psu chassis holes will do the job). Theres an option i'm interested in exploring for 2x2.5inch hotswap rear bays above the psu, thats obviously only compatible with CRPS PSU size . Its really difficult to find actual things to nitpick with this case. Theres no atx psu chassis plate, so i'll have to see if they supply one. Its USB/2 front adapter but i can understand that in the context of usb/2 only server boards for easy access usb emergency boot. So i might find a replacement usb 3 cable. The only real modification i would request to this otherwise perfect case, is vents that can close at the front of each hotswap bay for empty slots to help direct airflow to full bays. This case is highly recommended. The company has been informative, and extremely helpful with prompt delivery,
I'm running a home lab environment and my main storage server and plex-machine was occupying my spare storage room, have been using a bigtower for this over the last 8-10 years, finally got my shed insulated and invested in a server rack. Bought a cheap 4u chassis for my plex machine, but this had limited capacity for hard drives. I came over X Case via a friends recommendations. Delivery was very fast, no issues there (apart from the ATX psu bracket was missing, no big deal, it was sent the day after). The chassis itself far exceeds expectations in terms of quality, it's heavy and solid. Heaps of room for activities. Internal cabling is great, a bit long but that is never a bad thing. The HDD trays are excellent, good quality and has (as advertised) a very satisfying click to them. A screw-less solution would be a welcome addition. Back plane is also very high quality. Internal fans are very good, a bit noisy for my taste. The only issue i found is that the hot swap fan-shroud use a non-standard connection, it would be a lot better if it had the standard 4-pin connection at the base. This would make fan replacement a breeze. The airflow is excellent so you really shouldn't need to switch these out if noise is not a factor. There are no 60mm fans for the back of the chassis, I bought some Noctua NF-A6x25 and they fit perfectly. For the CPU cooler i used a Noctua NH-D15. this fits "almost" perfectly, it's about a millimetre or so too tall but taking care when closing the lid works fine. I also ordered the rail kit which was excellent, high quality and tool-less (although tools are needed if you have to adjust the depth naturally).
